My thoughts of you

Published by Olukemi Onigbanjo on

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  – JESUS (John 3:17)

In your relationship with a person, (family, friend, colleague etc.), there is a difference between your thoughts of appreciation of the person and your thoughts of what you want to change in the person. Your relationship with the person reflects your predominant thoughts of the person. Your relationship will either be one of guidance or of control.

Guidance

Appreciation is the recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone. If your thoughts are of appreciation, your words and actions create an atmosphere of encouragement and inspiration for the person. Your focus in the relationship, is on what is good and could become better. You become a channel of blessing and a destiny helper. You become a guide to the person. A guide is a person who advises or shows the way to others. A guide will correct a mistake by showing an alternative. You thoughts of appreciation can change your day and life. Likewise words and acts of appreciation will change a person’s day and life.

Control

Control is the power to influence or direct people’s behavior. If your thoughts are of what you want to change about the person,  your words and actions create a master-slave atmosphere . In the relationship, your focus on what is wrong with the person and your criticize destructively.   When you control, you condemn a mistake. Condemning, is not the same as correcting, a person.  Condemning limits you and the person. Condemning is a selfish act.

What are you thinking of { .someone’s name.. }

What you think of a person who is not physically present with you, you will speak and act when eventually present.  In the words of Jesus “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” When your thoughts are of appreciation you share love. When your thoughts are controlling the other, you share fear and torment.

Thank you Kemdot for this beautiful post.
With regard to this great piece:
“If your thoughts are of what you want to change about the person, your words and actions create a master-slave atmosphere.”

Whenever one wants to change something about someone, they usually have a lot of things they are unsatisfied with within themselves thus they project such things towards others. For that reason it shows that the thinker dwells in a master-slave atmosphere, that is why the Master said “Why do you see the speck on your brother’s eye but cannot see the log on your own eye.”

Beautiful blog by the way.
